Being a business owner is wonderful. It allows you to choose who you serve, what you do and how you manage your time (unless you’re letting your tasks manage you!)
However, it’s perfectly normal to lose inspiration for your business. This can happen because of too much work and not enough play, a cycle of transformation, or simply a disconnect from your why.
Think back to why you got into business in the first place. What do you love about your business?
What is the part that sparks you and lights you up when you talk about it with others? It’s likely that this is the part that is related to your WHY?
What’s your WHY? It is the driving force behind your entrepreneurial dream. The emotional aspects that keep you sticking with your business day in and day out.
I will give you a clue.
It's never about money!
Because money isn't even a driver to grow a business (you can make money much easier by working in someone else’s business!). If you don't have a WHY, that emotional connection that speaks to your heart, your business will never get what it needs from you.
Some tips to remind you of your WHY:
Get re-acquainted with your story; the story of your how and why. Recite it into a voice recorder on your phone, play it back and listen for your emotion, your drive and your excitement. If you have lost it, that it could be why you are in a business slump. Most people get energized all over again when they remember their story.
Make sure your story is part of your messaging, your website, marketing and even in your meetings. Everyone loves hearing a great story.
Remind yourself of the lives you’ve changed. Looking back at positive client testimonials, product reviews or case studies will help you remember that your work makes a difference.
